About Marjorie Sher

At The Law Office of Marjorie Sher, I provide my clients with guidance on a variety of family law matters including divorce and matters of parental responsibility. In addition to representing clients in court, I offer couples options for resolving their concerns out of court as a certified mediator.

After graduating from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, I began practicing in Lake County in 1993. Three years later, I focused my practice of law on family law matters. I have built on my decades of legal experience by serving on a number of committees and associations, including serving as vice president and president of The Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County and serving as secretary, vice president and president of The Lake County Bar Association.

I have presented a variety of seminars and classes including seminars for the Family Law Committee, Real Estate Committee and People’s Law School, and have served multiple times on sub committees responsible for guardian ad litem child representative training. I have also written a number of publications including The Art of Speaking to and Listening to Children and Making Sense of Divorce.

In addition to providing legal services to Lake County area for almost three decades, I am dedicated to serving the community in other ways. I volunteer with a number of causes including presenting to local children during annual Law Day activities, supporting the Lake County Drop-In Clinic and volunteering at causes including Feed My Starving Children and Bernie’s Book Bank. I have also served as a judge for mock trial.
